The Director-General of Prisons, Mr. Isaac Kofi Egyir yesterday, commissioned a dressing room facility for the Service’s sportsmen and women at the Prisons Headquarters sports complex.

The Director-General noted that, the lack of dressing room to provide for privacy and sense of decency for the sportsmen and women of the Service, sister security services and visitors was unacceptable. He commended the sports unit for making the Service proud by winning enviable trophies over the years, in Ghana, Africa and beyond.

Mr. Egyir also acknowledged the efforts all those who contributed in diverse ways to make the project a success, especially the former Director-General of Prisons, Mr. Patrick Darko Missah, under whose tenure the project was initiated.

The Prisons male basketball team emerged winners of the 2021 league while the female basketball and hockey teams placed 2nd in their respective categories.

Mr. Isaac Egyir assured the sports unit of the Prisons administration’s unflinching support and entreated the sports men and women to make good use of the facility.

The visibly excited sports OIC, DSP Fiankoh Seth Mante commended the Prisons Administration for the gesture, noting that “the phenomenon of sportsmen and women dressing in the open is now a thing of the past”.

He gave the assurance that the sports unit will put the facility to a judicious use and also maintain it well.
